Chuck (TV Series)
Chuck is an American spy comedy series focused around the character of Charles 'Chuck' Bartowski. The first series premiered in the States on 24 September 2007 and was so successful that NBC have committed to a second series which will air in 2008-2009.
Plot
Chuck is a stereotypical computer geek who lives with his sister and works as a member of the Nerd Herd, which is based within a Buy More store. His best friend is a fellow geek called Morgan Grimes, who also works at the Buy More.
At home, Chuck's sister Ellie is a doctor, but also seems to provide a maternal role for him as well. Ellie's boyfriend is Devon, who Chuck and Morgan secretly refer to as Captain Awesome due to his frequent use of the word.
Chuck's life changes when his former Stanford University roommate, Bryce Larkin, steals a database of classified cross-agency intelligence information known as The Intersect. Unable to escape with the secrets and in mortal danger, Larkin emails the contents of The Intersect to Chuck. Upon opening the email, Chuck is bombarded with classified information via a string of images that become embedded in his brain.
The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) both want to secure the data, which they track down to Chuck. Realising that Chuck now holds the Intersect, the two agencies assign special agents to protect him - Major John Casey and Sarah Walker. In order to make sure Chuck can have a normal life, Casey takes on a role at the Buy More and Walker works nearby at a restaurant called Wienerlicious.
Much of the action in Chuck derives from him making connections with the help of the Intersect and assisting the agents with that knowledge. He also is forced to keep his situation a secret from his family and friends. One of the story arcs in the series is a developing romance between Chuck and Agent Walker, who pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend as part of their cover.
